Church, Easter!  What else can I say? This is Easter week. It is an awesome time for us as followers of Jesus. This is a time when we celebrate the Good News, the Gospel, the truth of the death and resurrection of Jesus, the Cross.
The focus on Good Friday is the cross. As we gather on Good Friday (12:15 & 7:00 p.m.) we celebrate Jesus on the cross. We focus on Jesus’ death in our place. It is awesome that Jesus died for us so that we don’t have to die. However, it is even more spectacular than a physical death. We have all sinned and the payment for our sins, the wages we receive, is death. When you sin, you are paid in death. It is not just a physical death, it is an eternal death, eternal separation from God. Praise God for Good Friday, that Jesus died for us in our place.
The focus on Easter Sunday is the cross. As we gather on Easter (8:30, 10:00, & 11:30 a.m.), we celebrate an empty cross. Jesus is risen! The cross is empty! The power of sin, death, and the devil is defeated.  Jesus has won! Jesus has made a way for us to come back into friendship with God. Our sins can be forgiven and we can be sons and daughters of God. We can now choose to believe and receive Jesus as the Savior of the world, our Savior and Leader, the One who died and rose again to set us free from the power of sin. We can individually choose to accept Jesus as our Savior King. What a glorious moment that we celebrate.
I look forward to seeing you this Good Friday and Easter Sunday. I encourage you to bring a friend, a family member, a neighbor with you this weekend. We are celebrating the cross of Christ.
I’ll see you this Friday and Sunday!
In God’s Grip and for God’s Glory,
