What is it? Baptism is the act of being momentarily immersed in water, publicly, as a symbol of a person’s decision to become a Christian. It is a covenant with God and his church to walk in the way of Jesus. Baptism is not a guarantee of salvation. It is a public sign that a person has repented of sins, received forgiveness of sins, died with Christ to sin, been raised to newness of life and received the Holy Spirit. It is an identification with Christ’s death, burial and resurrection. Relevant scriptures regarding baptism include: Matthew 3:13-17, 28:18-20; Acts 2:38; Romans 6:2-6; I Corinthians 12:13; Colossians 2:12-13; Galatians 3:26-27; Ephesians 4:4-6 |
Who is it for? Baptism is for everyone who is a follower of Jesus. (Acts 2:41, 8:12-13) Click here to email a pastor, or pick up a Baptism Brochure at church to learn more and to move toward being baptized at MVCC. |
